MALIERA58S was developed not simply as a downsized model of the MALIERA68S, but for use in shallow areas and around low tide. By making the body smaller, the lure's diving force is reduced, to appeal to fish moving in from low tide to high tide. Compared with the MALIERA68S, it has more wobbling during normal-speed retrieve and a slightly stronger wobble during slow retrieve. It is designed with the same castability and range-keeping ability as the MALIERA68S, and its total weight is 14g, which is heavier than usual for a 58mm vibration plug. The treble hooks are #8 size (same size as the 68S).

Supervising pro staff member Obo caught sea bass repeatedly, including an 88cm lunker, in upper Tokyo Bay this season, when midsummer sea bass are said to be difficult to catch. According to the staff, this led to the situation the MALIERA concept describes as being disliked by one's companions. The smaller MALIERA58S is released in autumn, when larger fish can be targeted, and there is a reason for that.
